Building Codes

When it comes to building codes, RoofHelp relies on Reed Construction Data to provide accurate, up-to-date information regarding building code organizations being used across the country. But consumers need to keep in mind that codes will vary, not only state to state, but county to county, and city to city, as well. Contact your city's building official to see what codes are followed. They are usually listed as Inspection Department, Code Enforcement Department, Building Permits, or Building Department, and are typically listed under the Government Listings in the phone book. But let's be honest, who uses a phone book anymore? Do a quick Google search for "City of X building inspections" and it will most likely take to you the proper page. Most times, a quick phone call is the best way to get the answer. I've rarely found the information I need on a city's website.
